It’s been a while since I last changed my theme/skin.
This time I’ll take a brighter approach to reflect my resolution this year to be more optimistic and approachable.
Hope you’ll like it, whoever you are.

Being bugged by the little announcement on the admin site for quite some time now, I’ve finally decided to upgrade my blog software (WordPress) to the newest version 2.71.
Looking through the new features, among them it was the ability to use an iPhone app to make blog posts that really excites me. Without delay I took out my lil iPod touch and made a quick search over the App Store where I found the free WordPress app and downloaded it.
I have to say that this little app really does some pretty cool things like being able to make posts offline and save as drafts. Don’t really have the time to work on the advance features as I’m only taking a break here from my work load.
As a final note, this post is posted from my iPod Touch
It’s been three months and a few days more now since I’ve been here, and to those who cares, I just want to let you know that I’m all fine. Well, maybe not only fine but days have been quite good.
To be honest, when I tried to compare my current situation back to the first few weeks, it actually doesn’t differ much. I still don’t have much new friends, I still attend class, lectures and travel all alone. I guess it’s mostly because I’ve already got used to this kind of life, and realized that it wasn’t too bad after all.
Just about 2 month ago, I start job seeking, for a couple of reasons:
First of all, I wanted to be able to survive on my own, so that I don’t have to live off my parent’s money, and so that they could save it for my brother and sister’s education, and when they could save enough for my bro and sis’s edu, they can retire earlier, and so daddy could stop working so far away from home in China (and now I really know how bad it is to be away from home).
Secondly, I wanted to gain experience and learn through working. Working professionals often tell me that an IT student only starts learning when he/she starts working, and whatever that is learnt from Uni, almost never applies.
Thirdly, getting a suitable job would help me in my PR application in the future, since job seeking is not easy for someone who came and hold only certificate from a foreign country, I should start early.
Finally, is because I wanted to save up as much money as possible for someone important. Whether this someone will need it or not in the future, I figured that it’s best to start saving as soon as possible as a backup plan. I won’t talk about this in detail.
Well, so it started off like any other job seeking. I started looking through job websites, boards, University career hubs and so, and threw out a couple of resumes and started waiting for replies. For the first week, I got no replies, so I thought to myself that I should maybe throw out more resumes to double my chances, and so I did.
Another week passed by, and this time, Assignment 1s are all approaching their due dates and I still have no reply. Because of the Assignments, I find myself in a situation where I’m always busy with it and had very little time left for anything else, worried that I might not be able to cope with my studies, I stopped throwing out resumes, thinking that none of those that I have applied would ever reply me.
Just when I thought I could go home during summer and was already looking through the air ticket pricing, I was asked for an interview! I actually never expected it, and was all anxious about it. Well thanks to Sue, everything turned out to be well, and I’ve now got the job. From applying all the way until getting the job, Sue helped and guided me in everything. It seems that I’ll be in serious debt soon.
I’m currently working in a company called Pirion Systems located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Australia as a part time Software Programmer. It is a small little company which only a few people in the office. Although the company is small, I believe that the projects they work on are really big, with many customer and they’re all really good at what they do. I believe that I’ll be able to learn loads from them. Other than work, they’re also really fun people, always joking in the office and we all wear really casual… so there isn’t much pressure in the office, I really enjoy it.
Let’s just hope that everything will be fine for me at work, since this is my first job, I’m extremely inexperienced in dealing with work stuff, but I’m trying hard to cope.

If you haven’t know(which you should, unless you live under a rock), Google Chrome, also known as the Google Browser, has recently been released to the public for download as a Beta.
Before the launch of this browser, it has been widely speculated that this browser will be a heavy competitor for all major browsers out there now and will be a real challenge in the on-going browser wars.
Due to the fact that the browser has only been released to the Microsoft Windows OS and with Mac and Linux versions still under development, I initially refused to try it, because I only wanted a Mac version. However after I have finally downloaded it and tried it, I find myself stuck with Windows because I just love it so much I don’t wanna switch back to Mac without the browser.
If you have not tried it yet, I suggest you do. You would most probably have never ever used a browser which loads so fast, looks so clean, and yet comes with most features any modern browser should have. I personally recommend the Google Chrome to people who use a browser frequently but only uses the basic functions of a browser. If you’re into the “many many functions” thingy, you should stick with Firefox.
Every product in the world comes with some sort of downside, and with Google Chrome still a beta software, it does have its own problems. Google Chrome currently doesn’t come with an rss feeder/reader, which many users currently uses. Its “unique” kind of interface will require some getting used to for people who’ve been to used to the “Menu Bar” then only “Address Bar” kind of style, because the “Menu Bar” will be missing in Chrome, and the “Tabs” comes first before the “Address Bar”. Chrome is also having difficult loading certain Flash sites and Java applications on the browser however I’m sure Google will definitely fix this is future versions of the browser.
You won’t have problems surfing this blog with Google Chrome, don’t worry, hehe.
Do download it and give it a try, you might just find enough reason to abandon Internet Explorer for the rest of your life.
